Life Lately

Its the first day of August 2024, and I have no clue where the Summer has gone! It seemed to have just flown right by, and now Fall and all of the wonderful things that come along with it are rapidly approaching. Fall is my busiest season, however I still can’t get over how crazy busy my Summer was with bookings, meetings, and events! It was definitely a change from all of my previous Summers in my business, but wonderful nonetheless. I’m already booking for Fall and so excited for the families that I get to meet, and the repeat clients that I get to photograph again.

I’ve been focusing on being present in whatever it is that I’m doing, as well as romanticizing the little moments that we normally don’t think about “enjoying” so much – the things that we just “have to do” – While I’m cleaning, I will put on a favorite movie; When running errands, I will listen to my favorite podcasts; I listen to a daily devotion and reflect on scripture while I’m making my morning coffee, etc. This has been a huge game changer and has made me focus on practicing gratitude all throughout the day.

Through My Lens

The past couple of months have been, like I said, BUSY. And quite a few of the sessions that I photographed were headshot sessions. I’ve photographed financial advisors, hairstylists, paralegals…. SO let this be another reminder to you to update yours! Your clients and potential clients want to see YOU.

What is holding you back from scheduling your own headshot session? Lets chat!

Tips From Your Photographer

The first day of school is just right around the corner! Parents are probably jumping for joy, and kiddos are more than likely stomping their feet. Or maybe its the other way around! The Summers spent with your children are priceless! No matter which way you feel about it, the Milestone of another first day of school is coming up. I hope you’ll remember to capture it! I know my parents did, and looking back on those photos of my peers and I from that age is pretty sweet! Here are some ideas for capturing the first day of school:

If you have one, find a solid wall in your home to use as a backdrop. If its near a window, even better! That natural light is *chef’s kiss*. You could also find a great spot outside. Whichever spot you choose, I recommend using that same spot to take the Fist Day, and Last Day photos, every year. It makes for interesting comparisons, and will allow the focus of the photo to be on your child. You could also use a sign, like a small chalk board, to write some facts about the year, grade, favorite things, etc. You could also add small text on top of the photo in an app like Canva.

What I’m Loving

An absolute favorite part of my business is Networking! I belong to several groups in the Acadiana area, and its amazing getting to refer businesses that I love and have them do the same for you. Knowing that you are there meeting passionate, reputable business owners who will speak your name in a room of opportunities is just remarkable! After the initial network meetings, I love getting the chance to get to know everyone individually over a cup of coffee as well. Even during these Summer months, Networking has not slowed down one bit! Your Network is your Networth! Get out there and meet people and put your business out there!
